Tripleguns is a company that supports “Japan to the world”
and “the world to Japan” through event management, localization, and digital promotion.
We combine the detailed care often found in Japanese work culture with fast and flexible support built on years of experience in international field operations. Our goal is to provide top-quality service that works both in Japan and around the world.
Our team is based in Japan, Singapore, and the UK.
In addition to updates on what we’re working on, we’d also like to start sharing the latest news from each of these locations.
Today’s updates are from London, UK!
① Japan’s Tokyo Metro to Operate London’s Elizabeth Line (from May 2025)
Tokyo Metro and Sumitomo Corporation have been selected to manage operations for the Elizabeth Line, the newest line on the London Underground.
This made headlines in Japan–UK news last year.
Why? Because London’s public transport is famously unreliable. Trains are often delayed, cancelled, or impacted by strikes — it’s part of everyday life here.
Even the Elizabeth Line, which just opened in 2022, has a reputation for delays and weekend suspensions.
Now that Tokyo Metro will be involved in its operation, many are wondering:
Will “Japanese-style” train reliability come to London?
This will also be Tokyo Metro’s first time running a train service outside Japan.
One thing is clear — things in the UK often don’t run on time.
So if you’re headed to a concert or theatre show, always leave with plenty of time just in case!
② CDs Have Disappeared — In the UK, People Stream or Listen on Vinyl
Since coming to the UK, I noticed something surprising:
People don’t buy CDs at all anymore.
Instead, trendy record shops — where you can buy vinyl records, coffee, and even clothes — are very popular in areas like Shoreditch, Camden, and Notting Hill.
Young people, families, and even older music fans all enjoy the warm sound and atmosphere of vinyl.
Here’s one news item that shows this trend:
John Lewis Partners with Rough Trade to Sell Vinyl Records
On 14 February 2025, British department store John Lewis announced a new partnership with legendary music retailer Rough Trade to sell vinyl records in-store.
Imagine a store like Isetan in Japan teaming up with Tower Records — that’s the vibe.
In Japan, CD sales still exist (just barely), but in the UK, people mostly stream music and choose vinyl records when they want a special experience.
